sword & shield
Spring 2015, I entered into Gearbox’s costume contest for their upcoming game, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. The base of the sword consisted of foam board sandwiched between two layers of styrene. I use craft foam to create the raised details before hand painting the sword with acrylic paints. I accomplished this in 2 days.

The shield was made out of insulation foam that was hand sanded to create the rounded curvature. I used craft foam and wiggle eyes to add dimension to the shield. Then I used gesso to prime the foam before painting it with acrylics. Finally, I installed a red LED strip to the back of the shield to give it the glow. I accomplished this in 4 days.
